About BabyLog

Built by a dad, for parents who just want it to work

An app built by one Australian dad, out of genuine need — one arm full of baby, the other frantically searching for the log button.

Why I built this

Every app does too much

I became a dad in mid-2025. I tried every baby tracker app out there. They all do too much. When you're sleep-deprived, holding a baby on one arm, and can't remember the last feed — you don't want to navigate three tabs to find the log button. You need one tap. The core job of a baby tracker is logging and tracking. Most apps have lost sight of that somewhere between the locked exports and the AI insights subscription.

The iOS-versus-Android wall

My wife uses Android. I use iOS. There's no mainstream baby tracker app that does real-time cross-platform sync without friction. So we were either using different apps and comparing notes manually, or one of us was compromising on their phone. When you're logging feeds, nappies, and sleep eight to ten times a day, that friction adds up fast. It shouldn't be hard to keep both parents on the same page.

A childcare educator's perspective

My wife is a childcare educator. She knows what carers actually need day-to-day — not what looks good on a feature comparison table. Her input pushed the UX in directions I wouldn't have found as a developer. The nap window guidance, the way log types are organised, the speed of the whole flow — that's her professional experience turned into product decisions. The result is an app that works for real families, not just for App Store screenshots.

Your data should never be held hostage

I got increasingly frustrated by apps that hold your data hostage. They charge for “AI insights” that are just trend charts. They lock exports behind paywalls. Meanwhile, you could screenshot your timeline and ask an AI to give you a full developmental summary in ten seconds — for free. BabyLog will never lock you out of your own data. Export your complete history any time, no paywall on your records. We earn your loyalty by being the best tool, not by making it painful to leave.

Shipped because I need it too

I'm going to keep making this app easier to use because I use it every day and I want my own life to be easier. Every improvement ships because I needed it, my wife asked for it, or another parent spotted something obvious I'd missed. That accountability — the kind no corporate roadmap can replicate — is what keeps BabyLog honest. It works across Android and iPhone, stays responsive even when your connection drops, and is built to last because my family depends on it too.

What we stand for

Three things we'll never compromise on.

Simple first

Every screen is designed for one-handed use at 3am. No tutorials needed. If it takes more than one tap to log a feed, we've failed.

Your data, your rules

Export your complete history any time. No lock-in. No paywall on your own records. Your baby's data belongs to you — full stop.

Built for real life

Cross-platform baby tracking across iOS and Android, stays responsive when your connection drops, and caregiver sharing built in — because babies don't care about platforms.
