PWA Guide
BabyLog is a Progressive Web App (PWA). You can install it on your iPhone or Android home screen so it opens like a native app — full screen, no browser chrome, with its own icon.
What is a PWA?
A Progressive Web App is a website that behaves like a native app. It:
- Opens full-screen from your home screen
- Has its own app icon
- Loads quickly because assets are cached by your browser
- Works with your device's share sheet and clipboard
You don't install it from the App Store or Google Play. You install it directly from your browser in a few taps.
Install on iPhone (Safari)
Safari is required on iPhone — Chrome on iOS doesn't support PWA install.
- Open babylog.com.au in Safari
- Tap the Share button — the box with an arrow pointing up, at the bottom of the screen
- Scroll down in the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen
- Edit the name if you like, then tap Add
BabyLog now appears on your home screen. Tap it to open full-screen.
Install on Android (Chrome)
- Open babylog.com.au in Chrome
- Tap the three-dot menu ⋮ in the top right
- Tap Add to Home Screen or Install App
- Confirm the installation
On some Android devices, Chrome shows an automatic install banner at the bottom of the screen — tap Install there too.
When your connection drops
Once you've signed in and the app has loaded, BabyLog remains usable if you temporarily lose your connection. Recent logs and the Overview are available from your device's local cache.
What works without a connection:
- Viewing the Timeline and recent logs
- Viewing the Overview dashboard
- Navigating between screens
What requires a connection:
- Logging new activities (logs are synced to the cloud immediately when saved)
- Seeing updates from other caregivers
- Signing in for the first time
When your connection comes back, the app syncs automatically. You don't need to do anything.
Keeping the app up to date
BabyLog updates automatically in the background. When a new version is available, the app will prompt you to refresh. Tap Refresh to get the latest version.
